Kallayi is one of the rivers in Kerala, India. It originates in Cherikkulathur in the Western Ghats, at an altitude of 45 metres and is 40 km long. Kallayi is clsely rleated to all aspects of Kozhikode. Be it history, culture, industry, music or anything, Kallayi River always influenced it. Kallai (or Kallayi) is a small town on the banks of Kallai River which links with the Chaliyar river on the south by a man-made canal. During the late 19th century early 20th centuries Kallai was one of the most important centers in the world for the timber business.
Mananchira is a historically important man-made freshwater pond situated in the centre of the city of Kozhikode. Mananchira was the palace tank of King Vikrama, one of the great rulers in the region.The pond is fed by natural spring and is about 3.49 acres in area.
